Research conducted by the Learning and Skills Council, Skillset and Advantage West Midlands over the last 5 years all point to one defining problem in the Creative and Media Industries.
There is a significant gap between leaving Higher and Further Education with relevant qualifications and actually getting work. Employers constantly stated that new entrants into the jobs market lack the job readiness that is required by small knowledge intensive companies.
The quality of learning available is not the issue, it is almost impossible for learning institutions to deliver candidates to companies that can make an immediate impact due to the following:
Therefore we need to address the gap!
We at Newt Employment have 10 years experience in working on skills strategies in the Creative and Media Sector, we have extensive experience on working with Government Agencies, Employers and Learning Institutions to look at creating a better balance between the regions supply of talent and the demand of smaller innovative employers.
Our experience of seeing talent wasted or moving out of the region inspired us to set up Newt Employment, a new type of company that will develop in response to both the needs of our employers and emerging talent.
